The Department of Management and Marketing offers courses for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a concentration in Administrative Management.

Management

MGT 504  Business Organization and Administration  (3)  
Accelerated course in management concepts, functions, and practices; consideration of structural and behavioral aspects of organization and management.
MGT 510  Fundamentals of Human Resource Management  (3)  
This is a comprehensive course designed to examine the fundamentals of Human Resource Management including the major specialties of HRM, operational roles of HRM, legal and ethical issues in HRM, and new trends and challenges facing Human Resource Management.
MGT 522  Human Resources Seminar  (3)  
Industrial personnel and manpower management including personnel selection and placement, manpower planning, development and appraisal, and the role of human resource management.
MGT 524  Strategies in Entrepreneurship  (3)  
This course provides a broad overview of Entrepreneurship, including an analysis of potential business venture opportunities as well as launching and establishing a business venture to exploit an opportunity. Also includes a focus on innovative high technology entrepreneurship.
MGT 530  Contemporary Issues in Management  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): MGT 504 or the equivalent.

Investigation of current literature and practices in the field of management. A seminar course that includes lecture, discussion, and supervised student research into assigned topics.
MGT 537  Business Leadership  (3)  
Prerequisite for Undergraduate: MGT 301. Focuses on leadership as a strategic tool as well as an individual competence; i.e. what leadership means, is, and does. Examines critical strategic functions encountered at both the organizational and individual levels. This course may only be taken at the undergraduate level upon approval for participation in the Faster Master's program.
MGT 540  Entrepreneurial Sustainability & Growth  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): MGT 524.

This course provides students the experience to develop a business proposal to provide for sustainability and growth. Attention will be given to enterprises post launch to provide the stability and strategic opportunity to reach the businesses greatest potential.
MGT 560  Entrepreneurial Finance & Launch  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): MGT 524.

This course challenges students to prepare for the launch of the entrepreneurial concept they have been developing. Throughout the semester students will be guided through the process of creating a legal business entity and begin steps for a successful entrepreneurial launch.
MGT 568  Compensation Management  (3)  
This is a comprehensive course designed to study the development of compensation packages including a review of major theories and techniques regarding internal alignment, external competitiveness, employee contributions, administrative procedures, and benefits.
MGT 580  Advanced Labor and Employment Law  (3)  
This is a comprehensive course designed with up-to-date study of all the major labor and employment laws and topics for the current time. This course contains the use of numerous case studies based upon their historical import, discussion of the issues, turning points in the law, and issues of current significance.
MGT 589  Internship in Management  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): Approval of the instructor and approval of the MBA Director.

Provides the graduate student with practical experience in the field of management via a "real-world" work experience arrangement. Grades: Pass/Fail.
MGT 598  Independent Research  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): Completion of 18 semester hours of graduate courses including a three semester hour quantitative course.

Approval of the instructor and approval of the MBA Director. In-depth study of selected topic(s).

Marketing

MKT 513  Marketing Analysis & Strategy  (3)  
Executive level analysis of marketing strategies involved in market segmentation, pricing, promotion, product development, and distribution channels.
MKT 530  Comtemporary Issues in Marketing  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): MKT 513.

Investigation of current literature, problems, and changes/opportunities taking place in the field of marketing; seminar course that includes lecture, discussion, and supervised student research into assigned topics.
MKT 589  Internship in Marketing  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): Approval of the instructor and approval of the MBA Director.

Provides the graduate student with practical experience in the field of marketing via a "real-world" work experience arrangement. Grade: Pass/Fail.
MKT 590  International Marketing  (3)  

Prerequisite(s): MKT 513.

Impact of cultural differences on target markets and marketing strategy examination; trade barriers and methods of entry considered; course depends heavily on case writing and presentation.
MKT 598  Independent Research  (3)
