Application Materials Required for the EdD in Educational Leadership
Applicants for a Doctor of Education program must submit all of the following documentation to Graduate Admissions to be considered for admission:

Applicants will not be considered for admission until all required documents are received by Graduate Studies.
- Completed JSU Graduate Application for Admission.
- Non-refundable $35.00 application processing fee.
- An earned Master’s degree from an institutionally accredited institution.
- Official transcripts from the baccalaureate degree awarding institution and all transcripts from institutions where post-baccalaureate work has been completed. To be considered for admission, applications must hold a degree from an institutionally accredited institution or its foreign equivalent. (Students who have previously attended JSU do not need to request a transcript from the university.)
- An updated résumé or CV.
- Writing sample that includes the following: (1) the applicant's rationale for applying for the EdD; (2) a statement regarding career/professional goals; AND (3) an opinion-based writing sample of no more than 1,500 words describing a current and critical social or cultural problem, how it impacts your area of interest in education, and possible solutions.

Admission Requirements for the EdD with a Major in Educational Leadership
Potential applicants should be aware that admission to the JSU doctoral programs is a competitive process and that submitting an application does not guarantee admission.
Unconditional Admission
- For unconditional admission: GPA 3.25 and higher graduate GPA.
Conditional Admission
- For conditional admission: GPA 3.0 to 3.24 graduate GPA.
Note: Admission to the EdD in Educational Leadership is restricted to one (1) qualified Jacksonville State University employee per cohort.
Minimum Requirements for the EdD in Educational Leadership
An overall 3.25 GPA is required on all coursework attempted for the doctoral degree. Transfer credit cannot be used to raise the GPA to the required 3.25.

2 | Electives can be completed from one of four areas: General, P-14, Higher Education, or Teaching and Learning. Area designation can be found in the course description. Electives must be offered at the 600 or 700-level to be eligible to apply to the EdD program. |
