The microcredential in AI Literacy prepares students to critically and ethically use AI in academic and professional settings, skills essential for today’s jobs. A minimum of nine (9) hours is required.
Students will complete two required courses and select one course of their choosing through AI by Contract. Students must complete the two required courses before taking the AI by Contract course. Alternatively, students may select their third course from one of the listed elective courses.
The AI by Contract course must be in the student’s major or minor, 3-4 semester credit hours, and taught at the 300- or 400-level. Students will work with the course instructor to sign the AI by Contract form, which must be completed before the first day of classes. The form will detail how the student, with the instructor’s support, will apply the use of AI to a regular course assignment or an additional course assignment. The purpose of the AI by Contract course is for the student to gain critical, ethical AI skills in their chosen field of study.
Students must complete all courses with a C or better to receive the AI Literacy microcredential. Students must pass the AI by Contract course with a C or better as well as the agreed-upon AI assignment with a C or better to receive the AI Literacy microcredential.
