Application Materials Required for the EdD in Educational Leadership
Applicants for a Doctor of Education program must submit all of the following documentation to Graduate Admissions to be considered for admission:

Applicants will not be considered for admission until all required documents are received by Graduate Studies.
- Completed JSU Graduate Application for Admission.
- Non-refundable $35.00 application processing fee.
- An earned Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Transcripts of all academic programs attended postsecondary.
- An updated résumé or CV.
- Purpose, Rationale, and Career Statement - A statement of purpose which addresses the following: (1) the student's rationale for applying for the EdD; (2) a statement regarding career/professional goals; (3) a statement of how the student's rationale and career goals are consistent with the purpose of the EdD degree as articulated by the Department and Program; AND (4) a problem-based writing sample that provides evidence of the student's writing ability.

Admission Requirements for the EdD with a Major in Educational Leadership
Potential applicants should be aware that admission to the JSU doctoral programs is a competitive process and that submitting an application does not guarantee admission.
Unconditional Admission
- For unconditional admission: GPA 3.25 and higher graduate GPA.
Conditional Admission
- For conditional admission: GPA 3.0 to 3.24 graduate GPA.
Note: Admission to the EdD in Educational Leadership is restricted to one (1) qualified Jacksonville State University employee per cohort.
Minimum Requirements for the EdD in Educational Leadership
An overall 3.25 GPA is required on all coursework attempted for the doctoral degree. Transfer credit cannot be used to raise the GPA to the required 3.25.
